New-Delhi based hospitality company Lords Hotels and Resorts is eyeing management opportunities in the Africa market. This is part of its plans to have 49 hotels up and running in India and overseas by 2017.
Lords currently has 24 operating properties, out of which it owns nine.
PR Bansal, the company’s Managing Director, said: “We see Africa as the next big market. The company will soon sign a franchise-management agreement for a hotel in Nairobi in Kenya. The company is also in advanced stage of negotiations for a property in Kampala in Uganda.”
Apart from Africa, the chain is set to add three hotels in Nepal, where it already has two properties, he said.
In the domestic market, the company plans to open hotels in Jodhpur, Bangalore, Agra, and Jammu in the next nine months, Bansal said.
Lords is also keen to explore opportunities in Ajmer and Vishakhapatnam, as the Centre plans to develop them as ‘smart cities’, he added.
The hotel chain is also set to open a wellness resort in Lingapura near Shimoga district in Karnataka by the end of this year. “The resort will be spread over 11 acres and will have over 180 rooms and cottages with private pools,” Bansal said. The property will be built at a total cost of ₹200 crore.
The company operates across four brands — Plaza, Inn, Eco Inn and Resorts.
