The Ministry of Tourism awarded Vivanta by Taj – Kumarakom the ‘Best 4 Star Hotel' at the prestigious National Tourism Awards 2009-2010. The award was accepted by Mr Sibi Matthews, General Manager, Vivanta by Taj-Kumarakom.
Mr Sibi Matthews said the award is a testimony to the endless efforts of the team and that their dedicated commitment over the years has paid off, making Vivanta by Taj - Kumarokom the best 4 Star Hotel in the country.
History
Vivanta by Taj - Kumarakom has a 140-year-old story to tell. The natural beauty of the area inspired English Missionary Mr Henry Baker to build a charming colonial bungalow in the late 19th century. Often called the little jewel of Kumarakom, it still maintains the beauty of its rustic surroundings on the banks of Vembanad Lake.
The Tourism Ministry presents National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel and tourism industry every year. These awards are presented to State Governments, classified hotels, heritage hotels, approved travel agents, tour operators and tourist transport operators, individuals and other private organisations in recognition of their performances in their respective fields, and also to encourage healthy competition with an aim to promote tourism.
