Mahindra Powerol, which is engaged in power generation products and services, will aim to strengthen its presence in the mid and higher kVA diesel genset segment.

The company, part of the Mahindra Group, has just launched its 250/320 kVA range diesel gensets. The ex-factory price, excluding GST, for a 250kVA genset works out to ₹12.5 lakh and that for the 320kVA genset to ₹16 lakh. It has spent ₹160 crore in developing the two products.

“The demand for gensets continues to surge due to growing need to have power back-ups across segments,” said P Palaniappan, Senior Vice-President & Business Head, Mahindra Powerol, after unveiling the new gensets here. The company expects higher kVA genset demand to come from categories such as industrial units, malls, hospitals, IT data centres and manufacturing plants.

While lower kVA segment has reported a CAGR of just one per cent in the retail segment in the past three years, mid-and-higher segment (above 82.5 kVA) has maintained a CAGR of 10 per cent during this period, according to the company.
