A leading bookshop in Malaysia has come up with a new avenue to sell books — through vending machines.
MPH Bookstores Sdn Bhd said it was installing vending machines at strategic locations nationwide at selected hospitals, universities and LRT stations.
“Just click on the book to check out the synopsis before buying,” a bookshop official said. The new initiative is part of MPH's plans to ensure its business continues to grow despite any “untoward developments” in the book market.
The official said “the shocking collapse of the Borders Group in the US last month” was a strong reminder to the industry to be not complacent.
