Marks & Spencer Reliance India Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between UK’s leading retailer Marks & Spencer and India’s Reliance Retail, has appointed James Munson as the head of the company’s retail and marketing division and Maneesh Gaur as the head of property and projects.

“India is an important market for Marks & Spencer, its large population and economic growth present us with our huge opportunity,” the Marks & Spencer India CEO, Mr Martin Jones, said in an official statement.

“Mr James and Mr Maneesh’s keen business acumen and retail expertise will add great value to our business and help support our growth in India,’’ he added.

A retail professional with over 14 years of experience, Mr James joined Marks & Spencer UK in 2006 and has held positions such as commercial manager in both foods and general merchandise and store manager of the Camberley store, Marks & Spencer’s second largest store in the UK with over 1,000 employees.

Mr Maneesh joins the company after a six year stint with India’s leading retailer Shoppers Stop. Previously, he has held a variety of leadership roles across international retailers and the hospitality industry, the statement said.

Marks & Spencer set up the joint venture with Reliance Retail in 2008 and currently has 19 stores in India selling apparel, homeware and beauty products.
