After launching small family cars, executive sedans for corporates and government officials, and premium compacts for young population for all these years, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) will soon launch a car 'Ignis' targeting at Millennials, youngsters born in late 1980s and 1990s, the company said on Thursday.

Booking of this latest small car will start from January 1 through the company’s website and official launch will happen on January 13. Like its premium hatchback Baleno and crossover S-Cross, Ignis will be sold through MSIL’s Nexa showrooms across the country.

The company has a network of 197 Nexa outlets in 115 cities across India and it plans to reach up to 250 such outlets by end of this financial year in 150 cities, RS Kalsi, Executive Director Marketing & Sales, MSIL, told reporters here.

Speaking on the latest car, he said, “This will be an entry segment offering from Nexa – a premium urban compact vehicle for the millennials. Millennials have a desire to make a difference and want to stand out on the basis of the choices they make. First time job seekers, pursuing a passion in life, who stood up to differ, will experience the Ignis.”

Powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines, the new car will have lot colourful features, and also one can customise the car from an array of choices available at Maruti Suzuki dealers.

Ignis will also be available in automatic transmission (AMT) options for both petrol and diesel. According to analysts tracking the industry, price of the Ignis base variant is expected to start from ₹4.70 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
