Mirchi.com, a multi-lingual online platform for sweets and snacks, has announced the launch of a new category, Home Foods. This category will feature food creations exclusively from home-based chefs.

Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, IT, Telangana, launched the service in the presence of TS Tirumurti, Secretary (Economic Relations), Ministry of Economic Affairs.

India is home to countless homemakers who create delicious sweets, savouries, cookies and pickles but are unable to go beyond their neighborhood or friends’ circle. In many cases, family restrictions do not allow them to venture out of their homes.

“We want to empower those who, with a little help, can rise above their current situation and do a lot better for themselves and their families without leaving their homes,” said Niraj Mital, the Chief Operating Officer of Mirchi E-Commerce, owner of Mirchi.com.

There are currently over 300 verified commercial sellers and 3,000-plus food products on Mirchi.com.
