With the year-end closing of accounts underway, most bankers did not have the luxury of other sector top management, and had to work late in the night. Mr T.M. Bhasin, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Bank was in Rajasthan, with the Minister of State for Finance, Mr Namo Narain Meena, opening a branch 65 kms from Jaipur. “But I have been following the match through my personal assistant and my mobile phone – both work and cricket are going on,” he said.
Mr M. Narendra, CMD of Indian Overseas Bank, was office bound in Chennai, and working late. “I was not watching cricket – but followed the scores through various sources,” he said.
“It was business as usual for the bank and work as usual for me, but at the same time, as an Indian, I cannot stop following what's happening on cricket – especially today's match, being a semi final,” said Mr M.V. Nair, Chairman and Managing Director, Union Bank of India.
