Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has registered a net profit of ₹415.86 crore in the second quarter of 2016-17 against a loss of ₹909.51 crore in the corresponding period of 2015-16. A press release by the company said here on Tuesday that the GRM (gross refining margin) of the refinery for Q2 of 2016-17 stood at $4.65 a barrel against the GRM of $0.34 a barrel in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. In rupee terms, the GRM works out to around ₹920 crore in Q2 of 2016-17 against ₹56 crore in Q2 of 2015-16. (GRM is the difference between the price of crude and the end products such as diesel, petrol, etc.)
Turnover stood at ₹13,988 crore (including exports of ₹3,305 crore) during second quarter of 2016-17 against ₹12,488 crore (exports ₹3,361 Crore) in the corresponding quarter of 2015-16.
The throughput at the refinery during Q2 of 2016-17 was at 4.03 million tonnes (3.46 mt). On Tuesday, the scrip of MRPL closed at ₹88.30 on the BSE, down 0.79 per cent, against the previous close of ₹89.
