Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held talks with some of the leading Japanese corporations including Mitsubishi and Fuji Electric and Japanese International Cooperation Agency for potential cooperation.

The Chief Minister is touring Japan during July 6-9 to finalise investment proposals of Japanese companies/investors made during his earlier visit in November 2014.

State Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Municipal Minister P. Narayana and senior officials are part of the delegation.

During the meeting, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Fuji Electric submitted a feasibility report on smart grid project after analysing weather, wind direction and correlation between weather and power demand.

Mitsubishi expressed interest to set up Japan Information and Study Centre at Andhra University. This Centre will promote Japanese language courses and introduce locals to the Japanese culture. The Mitsubishi team evinced interest in taking part in the Chennai-Bangalore industrial corridor and Krishnapatnam industrial node.

AP wanted Mitsubishi to set up a cluster near Krishnapatnam, bringing in all their subsidiaries to one place.

Another company Mayekawa evinced interest in Andhra Pradesh’s fisheries sector.

The Chief Minister said the government is contemplating setting up of Aqua University.

PORTS, POWER PLANT

During the meeting with Yokohama Port located on Tokyo Bay, its representatives said they would prepare action plan for AP’s ports.

Masayuki Takashima, President of Yokohama Port, told the Chief Minister that they will prepare a master plan for collaboration between Yokohama port and AP ports such as Kakinada, Krishnapatnam and Visakhapatnam ports.

Later, the Sumitomo Corporation has informed that it has completed a feasibility report on 1,000 mw Bhavanapadu Power Project in Srikakulam district.
