NCL Industries Ltd, the flagship company of the NCL Group, set up its ready mix concrete (RMC) plant at Autonagar, Gajuwaka, and announced the launch of the product - Nagarjuna RMC - here on Friday.

At a press meet on the occasion, Mr K. Ravi, Managing Director of the company, said Rs 5 crore had been invested on setting up the plant at Gajuwaka. “We are setting up a similar plant in Hyderabad before the month-end. We are planning to set up similar plants in many other parts of the State, as ready mix concrete is gaining popularity. The plant here will cater to the needs of the builders in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts,” he said.

Mr Ravi said NCL was producing 2 million tonnes of cement per annum at its two plants Mattapalli in Nalgonda district and Kondapalli near Vijayawada in Krishna district. The company was also manufacturing special grade cement required for hi-tech works such as railway concrete sleepers and pre-stressed concrete works.

He said the marketing of ready mix concrete would help the group in retaining its market share. He said the RMC plants would be fully equipped with labs for testing the quality of concrete and the required number of transit mixtures would be provided to each plant to convey concrete to distant places in time.

Tie up with Austrian co

He said the group had entered into a tie-up with VST group of Austria to introduce permanent formwork system in the country. The venture is in the fine-tuning stage. It would be used in erecting pre-fabricated structures. He added that the company was selling several other building materials under the Nagarjuna brand.

The company has 3,500 dealers and 12 regional offices across the country, with the headquarters in Hyderabad. The group employs over a thousand persons directly.

Mr Ravi said the group had diversified into power generation as well. One 7.5 MW hydel power plant was set up at Potireddypadu on Srisailam right canal and another 8.5 MW hydel project on the right high level canal at Tungabhadra dam. Three more power projects, including a 30-MW thermal station, are in progress.
