Dialysis network NephroPlus has acquired seven new dialysis clinics in the Philippines for an undisclosed amount.
While the Philippines acquisition bolsters its presence in the region, NephroPlus expects to start its clinics in Saudi Arabia as well, later this year, Vikram Vuppala, NephroPlus Founder and Chief Executive told businessline.
He said the company recently forayed into Saudi Arabia through a joint venture agreement and plans to open accounts with about four clinics by the end of 2025.
The ₹750 crore dialysis network has a footprint across five countries, including Nepal, Uzbekistan, and India. In most countries, the government is a crucial stakeholder, reimbursing patients for dialysis treatments, which are chronic therapies, explains Vuppala. The need for this service will only increase over the years, he said, adding that their expansion would be supported through funds raised internally, besides other avenues.
With its latest expansion, NephroPlus now operates 36 clinics in the Philippines, serving nearly 2,000 patients, it said. The network aims to drive change through technology-enabled remote monitoring, clinical data analytics, and publishing outcomes in international forums, it said. It has made investments to enhance operational efficiency and patient outcomes in the Philippines, it added. “These investments have generated approximately 400 jobs across clinical and operational roles. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a training academy for dialysis nurses and technicians,” a note from the network said.
Vuppala pointed out that the Philippines, with its $200 million dialysis market and increasing incidence of chronic kidney disease, “offers a compelling opportunity.”
The network has operations in over 300 cities worldwide and 500 dialysis clinics, besides serving over 32,000 patients monthly, it said.
