Nestle India is looking to bring back earlier variants of Maggi as well as launch new variants of the instant-noodles in the next few months.

Talking at the sidelines of an event organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Narayanan, CMD, Nestle India, said: “We are looking at bringing some of the earlier variants of the Maggi noodles and launch them in phases. Variants such as atta noodles and cup noodles are definitely on the cards. We are evaluating whether we should bring all the variants. At the same time, we will also launch some new variants of Maggi.”

As of now, two variants of Maggi noodles — Masala and Chicken — have been launched.

Talking about strengthening of distribution for Maggi, he said that distribution has almost reached 75-80 per cent of what the brand was earlier at.

“When the other variants would be launched, then I hope that we would be able to catch up the balance part of the distribution. We are without hesitation on the road to recovery,” he added.

Reacting to reports of some samples of the noodles being tested for ash, he said the company has not received any official intimation on the issue and that food quality and safety is primary for Nestle.

He added that if analysis of ash using standards meant for macaroni products are used for analysing noodles it will obviously lead to misleading results.
