Amid Ray Technologies, a Technopark Technology Business Incubated (T-TBI) company, has launched an intelligent water control system — CACTO — a water saving module that helps save water due to leaks and careless handling, rust and other problems in the pipeline.

Ms Pratheeksha A. K., CEO, Amid Ray Technologies, said Cacto acts as a solution to the various water wastage problems in the buildings .

The intelligent water control mechanism can also support farmers by providing an intelligent irrigation mechanism automatically according to the requirements and can also be controlled easily through any normal mobile phone, she said.

Irrigation

The company is also planning to cash in on the irrigation application as nearly 85-90 per cent of water is being used for irrigation in the country. Each time one hectare field is irrigated, approximately 500,000 litres of water are used, of which, 50 per cent is wasted. The wastage happens mostly due to the mismanagement of water while irrigating. Cacto can help the farmers control the water flow in their land by setting the time, and it will automatically supply water in a timely manner, she added.

Mr Nithin Bose, Chief Technology Officer, said the product when fitted to the main water supply of a house, automatically controls the water supply to a household. Using the mobile phone, the owner can control the system from anywhere, thus addressing water wastage. It also checks on water leakage, flow detection and water usage against requirement. Cacto can save up to 700 litres a year in a house with 12 taps, he said.

Mr Rohit R. K., Chief Operating Officer, said the company plans to develop higher modules for larger buildings and also the solar powered version of Cacto in future. The product will be available with customisation for bigger enterprises as well.
