State-run NHPC today said that its 132-MW hydel plant at Teesta in Sikkim has begun commercial operations and can now supply electricity to the national grid.
“Commercial operations of the generating station of installed capacity of 4x33MW (132-MW) as a whole are declared with effect from midnight of May 19, 2013,” the company said in a filing to the BSE.
NHPC’s current installed generation capacity is 5,300 MW.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 19.55, down 2.01 per cent on the BSE.
