Television channels, adwallahs and brands are cashing in on the Sachin fever. Online retailers too have joined the bandwagon. From creating a dedicated microsite to having specially ordered collectibles embossed with the face of the master blaster, online retailers are cashing in on the frenzy around his farewell. Tendulkar will play his last and 200th test in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium from November 14 to18.

SPECIAL WEB PAGE

eBay has created a special page to display Sachin-related products. Snapdeal has specially designed a ‘century-century’ coke can collectible personally autographed by the cricketer and is available for a whopping Rs 5 lakh.

Flipkart, one of the country’s largest e-commerce players, has over 100 listings for Sachin-related products. Besides, there are items from silver coins, books, posters, miniature bats, T-shirts, wallets, bags, mugs and several other accessories with either an image or autograph of the 40-year-old batsman on them.

Spike in traffic

Snapdeal, which will be going live with a wide range of products from Monday next week, says that the site has witnessed a spike in traffic in the last 2-3 days.

“We expect Sachin-mania to continue even after his last match. There is only one Sachin and one retirement. This is a big event for all his fans,” said Amit Maheshwari, V-P (Fashion Merchandising), Snapdeal. He also said that the company is not offering any discount on these items as these are memorabilia.

eBay Indiasaid that the marketplace has received a good response from fans across the country. Most of the traction for such merchandise is from non-metro cities and towns such as Darjeeling, Nasik, Virudhunagar, Kakinada, Kornool and Udaipur, among others.

The nation has been gripped by the Sachin frenzy, despite the batting maestro not having scored a test century for over two years.
