Four employees of Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company, have bagged the Prime Minister's Shram awards.

The Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Mallikarjun Kharge, gave the awards to Mr Bhura Lal Nagda (fitter), Mr Jagdish Chandra Jat (Assistant Foreman — Mechanical), Mr Dal Chand Lohar (Assistant Foreman — Electrician) and Mr Mahendra Kumar Soni (Assistant Foreman — Ore Dressing).

The Prime Minister's Shram Bhushan Award carries a citation and a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and the Prime Minister's Shram Veer Award comes with a cash award of Rs 60,000 and a citation.

Mr Nagda received the Shram Bhushan award for troubleshooting. Besides, his ideas helped reduce power consumption and improve production, resulting in savings, the company said in a press release.

Mr Jat got the Shram Bhushan award for bringing in technical changes and upgrading equipment which enhanced safety standards at the plants.

Mr Lohar, who won the Shram Veer Award, helped increase reliability of the power-distribution network and reduce spares cost.

Mr Soni got the Shram Veer Award for contributing towards productivity improvement, particularly to zinc-lead metal recovery efficiency, and for his ideas on dust suppression.
