Preethi Kitchen Appliances is looking at 20 per cent growth in the current fiscal as there is consistent demand for all its products. Last year, the company had clocked a turnover of ₹600 crore.

S Subramanian, Managing Director, said the emphasis on good quality products, a string of innovations and a strong after-sales support were the key differentiators for Preethi, a 40-year-old brand.

Post-GST, there has been a positive response from the market and the ₹3,000-crore mixer grinder industry has already posted an early double digits growth.

Mixer grinders are a major contributor to the Preethi’s product basket which comprises 13 other items such as wet grinders, glass top gas stoves and pressure cookers .

On the GST rate of 18 per cent for kitchen appliances, he said the rate has come down from 28 per cent. However, they being household items essential for food preparation it would be ideal to look at a better option on rate.

Subramanian, who was in Kochi for Onam launch offers, said the government’s initiative for electrification of more rural areas is expected to perk up further demand for kitchen appliances. The company also caters to export markets of West-Asia, Africa, the US, Singapore, Malaysia.

Kerala, with its expanding consumer base and retailer network, is one of the biggest markets for Preethi and the company is looking at a 15 per cent growth during the festival season in the State.
