Punj Lloyd, a diversified engineering, procurement and construction company, announced its foray into the power transmission and distribution sector with two orders in the segment.

The company said on Wednesday it won ₹ 488-crore worth of projects in the power sector, including two transmission and distribution segment orders.

The orders have been awarded by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd for rural electrification in the districts of Odisha – Jajpur, Khorda and Ganjam.

The projects are under the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana and the work includes construction of a 11 kV outgoing bay, construction of new 11 kV line, augmentation of existing 33/11 kV systems, installation of distribution transformers and service connection to below poverty line customers.

The company also said that it has won its first power project from BHEL for the civil, structural and architectural work of the non plant works and raw water reservoir, roads and drains at the 800 MW Kothagudem Thermal Power Plant in Telangana.

“The Group’s order backlog stands at ₹ 21,466 crore. The order backlog is the value of unexecuted orders on June 30, 2015 plus new orders received after that date,” the company said in a statement.
