Puratos India, the local arm of Belgium-based producer of bakery, patisserie and chocolate ingredients is expanding its facility at Ranjangoan in Pune.

The foundation stone for the expansion was laid on Sunday by Geert Bourgeois, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders, who led an economic delegation of 55 Flemish companies. The delegation was among the largest from the region of Flanders to visit India so far, a release from Puratos India said.

Stating that confidence of Flemish companies in India was growing, Bourgeois said, "It is our commitment to strengthen business relationships, tie-ups and collaboration between Indian and Flemish businesses. We are also looking to meet several Indian investors who either have presence in Flanders, Belgium or are looking to make a market entry in Europe, Flanders in particular.”

Dhiren Kanwar, MD India and Director, South Asia, for Puratos said, “We are grateful to have support in formalizing the future expansion of Puratos India. This will incorporate new technologies that are not used by any other ingredient manufacturers in India yet.”

The expansion aims at taking the 50,000 sq ft facility in Pune to 84,000 sq ft.

A global group with local subsidiaries in 63 countries, Puratos’ products are manufactured in more than 55 plants, in four continents, and sold in over 100 countries.
