Tata Global Beverages today said that its Vice Chairman R K Krishna Kumar has stepped down from the company’s board upon retirement.
“R K Krishna Kumar, Vice Chairman of the Board of Tata Global Beverages Limited, has stepped down from the board effective close of July 18, 2013, consequent upon his reaching the age of retirement, in line with the policy adopted by the board for retirement of directors,” the company said in a filing with the BSE.
Kumar, a close confidante of Ratan Tata, served as Managing Director of Tata Global Beverages from May 1991 to January 1998. He was appointed Vice-Chairman and Managing Director in 1997.
Besides, he was also on the boards of a number of Tata Group companies, including Tata Sons Ltd and Tata Industries Ltd.
Tata Global also announced retirement of its non-executive independent director U M Rao from the company’s board effective July 2.
