Ramraj Cotton, a Tamil Nadu-based manufacturer of dhotis and vests, has set its eyes on the North and the West for expansion.
The firm hopes to make an entry into the northern States as it roped in Rana Daggubati, who played villain in the blockbuster Baahubali movies, as its brand ambassador for its vests business.
April entry“We would like to enter Maharashtra and Gujarat in April next. Rana Daggubati’s popularity will help us enter the Northern and Western States, besides expanding the market in the South,” Ramraj Cotton Founder and Chairman KR Nagarajan has said.
At an event here on Wednesday, the company displayed its products and introduced its new brand ambassador. Incidentally, Rana’s uncle Venkatesh promotes the company’s dhotis.
The firm, which registered a turnover of ₹1,200 crore in 2016-17, is looking at a growth rate of 20 per cent in the current financial year. It earns 10 per cent of its turnover from exports. It has a network of 82 exclusive stores, including 22 franchisee outlets.
Production expansionThe company is also looking to expand its production capacity by setting up a manufacturing facility outside Tamil Nadu. “We might set up the unit in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. We will take a call after studying the options available,” he said.
It is also planning to expand the product offerings by introducing silk, linen and Kerala sarees. Nagarajan, however, has not indicated a timeline for product diversification.
