The first seven matches featuring the Indian team (up to and including the quarter finals), delivered an average TV rating of 10.4 points on the ESPN Star Sports bouquet (ESS) of ESPN, Star Cricket and Star Sports, among the cable and satellite C&S male 15-plus (in age) ABC audience, according to Television Audience Measurement (TAM) data. The average TVR was 12.7 on ESS and DD combined (ESS+DD), revealed ESS.

Peak rating

The India-Australia quarterfinal saw a peak rating of 31.6 on ESS+DD and 25.5 on ESS, while the India-England match had a peak rating of 20.3 on ESS+DD and 15.7 on ESS, for the same audience. The average rating for the Indo-Aus encounter was 13.3 on ESS and 16.1 on ESS+DD.

Up to the quarter final stage, live telecast of the World Cup matches reached 169.7 million viewers, or 85 per cent of the total cable and satellite (C & S) viewer base. The reach figures consider a C&S four-plus audience.

The first 39 non-India matches delivered an average TVR of 1.8, with the Pakistan-Sri Lanka match on February 26 being the highest rated non-India match with an average rating of 4.6 points.

India-Pak semi-final huge draw

According to aMap DTH data, which tracks DTH four-plus viewership (deferred live), 79 per cent of DTH households tracked at 4.10 p.m. during the India-Pakistan semi-final on Wednesday, were watching the match. Of these, 36 per cent were watching Star Sports, 32 per cent were following the match on DD and 11 per cent on Star Cricket. aMap DTH tracks viewership in 5 lakh-plus households in Hindi-speaking markets markets and 10 lakh-plus households in the South.
