The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited) on Monday announced the completion of the modernisation of converter-B, 18 days ahead of the original schedule.
The modernisation of the steel melt shop-1 consisting of three converters has been completed successfully at a cost of around Rs 400 crores, according to a RINL spokesman.
Chairman and Managing Director P Madhusudan commenced the commissioning process of converter-B on Monday in the presence of directors, union leaders and a large number of employees. He exhorted the staff to work with commitment and dedication.
The SMS-1 has been modernised after successful operation of around 25 years.
