Engineering giant Rolls-Royce Plc will hire 500 engineers for its new Indian captive unit to support its regional needs as well as for carrying out aerospace work.

The company’s President for India & South Asia Kishore Jayaraman told newspersons on Wednesday that these engineers will be recruited over a period of two years.

The captive unit will carry out work in the area of aerospace engineering for customers in the region as well as support for the regional supplier base. It will also develop new tools and technologies. Jayaraman said the captive unit will be mutually exclusive to the two engineering service centres that are currently operational in the country.

Rolls-Royce operates a centre with Quest consisting of over 600 employees and another one with TCS which employs over 300 engineers providing engineering solutions and services across the entire product development life cycle.
