Former head of rating agency Crisil Roopa Kudva has been appointed Partner of US-based philanthropic investment firm Omidyar Network and Managing Director of its Indian arm.
Kudva, who will take charge from July 1, has been named Managing Director of Omidyar Network India Advisors, the company has said in a release.
Kudva will oversee Omidyar Network’s investments in the country across the firm’s consumer Internet and mobile, education, financial inclusion, governance and citizen engagement and property rights initiatives, it said.
She will report to Omidyar Network Managing Partner Matt Bannick.
“She will lead a new phase of our India operations by supporting early-stage investments, innovative entrepreneurs, and businesses with deep social impact,” Bannick said.
Prior to this appointment, Kudva served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Crisil.
