Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) commenced the fiscal 2011-12 on a positive note with impressive production performance in the major production centres of the steel plant.

During April 2011, while Coke Ovens operated at a level of 360 oven-pushing a day, Sinter output reached 2,82,426 tonnes, Hot Metal production stood at 1,84,663 tonnes, Crude steel output was 1,76,346 tonnes and saleable steel production touched 1,65,011 tonnes, RSP sources said here today.

The production centres achieved remarkable capacity utilisation of 101.4 per cent, 111.9 per cent,112.3 per cent,112.9 per cent and 120.1 per cent respectively.

The saleable steel production was best compared with any months of April since the inception of the steel plant registering growth of nearly four per cent compared with April 2010.

The finishing units of the RSP also performed with distinction during April 2011 registering growth over April 2010 with hot rolled coils (total) at 1,35,279 tonnes (four per cent), hot rolled plates at 28,473 tonnes (28 per cent), electric resistance weld (ERW) pipes at 5.484 tonnes (54 per cent), Spiral Weld (SW) pipes at 2,385 tonnes (17 per cent) and CRNO steel at 6,804 tonnes (ten per cent).
