In the last four years Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has provided steel for projects of national importance. But, it should also focus on research and innovation to keep pace with the changing times, Steel Minister, Chaudhary Birender Singh, said here on Friday.
While speaking at an event to mark the diamond jubilee celebrations of the state-owned company, Singh said, "From construction of the Statue of Unity to the sea link in Mumbai, SAIL has played a major role". He added that the company needs to keep pace with time and should focus on speed, aggression, innovation and loyalty.
India is the second largest steel producer in the world. Binoy Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Steel said, "With changing times, there is a need for SAIL to gear up. It can focus on practices being adopted by private companies, which it can also incorporate."
