Electronics major Samsung India has announced the appointment of Elkana Ezekiel as its Chief Marketing Officer.
In this role, Mr Elkana will be heading the corporate marketing function for Samsung India as well as developing and executing corporate marketing strategies to support the company to achieve its targeted sales.
“My mandate will be to take the Samsung brand to the next level in terms of consumer connect by fully leveraging the Samsung brand and product strengths across different business verticals of the company,” he said in a statement.
Samsung, which achieved a sales turnover of $3.5 billion in India, is targeting sales growth of 40 per cent in the year 2011.
Mr Elkana is a post-graduate in marketing from XLRI-Jamshedpur. He has more than 23 years of experience in the FMCG sector.
Prior to joining Samsung, he was with Johnson & Johnson for more than 16 years.
He was Regional Franchise Director (Baby Care) — Asia Pacific Region, based at Singapore where he was responsible for marketing of Johnson’s baby products, handling marketing, brand strategy and business development for the brand covering 15 countries including Japan, China, India, Korea, ASEAN and Australia.
Mr Elkanal has also worked with brands such as Colgate, Palmolive and Geoffrey Manners.
