The strike by Samsung workers at the factory in Chennai, in protest against suspension orders issued to three office bearers of the newly registered union—CITU-backed Samsung India Thozhilalargal Sangam—entered its third day today.
Sangam sources claimed that 1,200 workers are on strike, but company sources said that on Thursday, the number was around 500.
There was no talks between the striking workers and the management during the day. This despite over 1,000 workers sitting on a strike, said Sangam sources.

Production is going on by using contract workers and apprentices, they said.
The plant at Sunguvarchatram in Sriperumbudur Industrial Park mainly manufactures consumer appliances like washing machines and air conditioners, and certain components for supply to the company’s Noida plant.
