Escalators and elevators maker Schindler India, a 100% subsidiary of Schindler Group, has been awarded “Platinum” certification for its manufacturing facility at Chakan in Pune by Indian Green Building Council.
IGBC Green Factory Buildings rating programme has been developed for the industrial sector and is based on accepted energy and environmental principles and strikes a balance between known established practices and emerging concepts.
The Platinum certification was awarded as Schindler initiated new initiatives like solar energy, packaging pallets reuse, recycling of TPU and maintaining the water and energy conservation measures.
Schindler manufacturing facility, is fully functional from beginning of 2014. This campus houses the elevator factory, a 71-meter tall elevator test tower, the global R&D centre and the upcoming escalator plant, a testimony to Schindler Group’s commitment to the Indian Market. Schindler has invested Rs 430 crore as a part of the total Rs 600 crore outlay.
Uday Kulkarni, President India and South East Asia in a statement said, “Schindler is committed to conducting its business activities in harmony with society and the environment. Schindler’s products and services are designed to provide energy efficient and eco-friendly solutions to architects, contractors and building owners.”
Schindler has partnered several infrastructure projects in India, which include new Mumbai International Airport, Terminal-2, the Chennai International Airport, the Delhi Metro, the Delhi Airport Metro among others.
