Union Coal Secretary Anil Swarup on Thursday assured to support the State-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited in its expansion initiatives, and urged the mining company to set higher production targets.
Following a meeting here, Anil Swarup discussed issues relating to Singareni Collieries performance, production, productivity and new mines proposed to be taken up.
During the meeting and discussions with N. Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries, the Union Coal Secretary responded positively and agreed to look into Singareni request with regard to enhancement of delegation powers of SCCL Board of Directors to raise funds from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1,000 crore and provide also tapering coal linkage to Singareni thermal plant now under construction.
The Singareni CMD outlined the performance of the mining company during 2014-15, current year production, productivity achievements and various measures taken for achieving current year targets, plans and proposals for new mining projects, progress of construction of Singareni Thermal Power project.
He explained about the prestigious Adriyala Longwall project, Naini Coal block allotted to Singareni and permissions required take them up for development.
While appreciating the performance and the measures taking for development of organisation, production, productivity, coal transport, Anil Swarup stated that CIL is planning for production target of 1000 million tonnes and SCCL needs to set a target to achieve 100 million tonnes in coming years.
Singareni was also called upon to organise a meeting with CIL Directors at Ramagundam on Longwall project technology and use of information technology in coal mining.
