The 'Auto Expo–The Motor Show 2018’ to be held in Delhi will have six special zones, including Future Mobility Experience and Automotive Innovation, and see the debut of Korean automotive company Kia Motors and India Kawasaki Motors among others.

Organised by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (SIAM) jointly with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the auto show will be held at Greater Noida from February 9-14.

The media preview and launch of new models will take place on February 7 and the show will be inaugurated on February 8. The much-waited event of the automotive industry in India will see the launch of a number of new models from various automotive manufacturers.

The 2018 edition will focus on 'Entire Mobility Eco-System,’ with the theme of “Co-Create, Co-Exist and Celebrate.”

Arun Malhotra, Chairman SIAM Trade fair Group, has said the auto show is being considered among five best motor shows and offers an opportunity for automotive companies to showcase their capabilities and upcoming models.

Debashish Majumder, Director, SIAM, highlighted how the social media is also expected to create a buzz over the auto show. A special Emoji is being created by Twitter for the show. The auto show will portray a complex labyrinth of safety, emissions and sustainability in a juxtaposed blueprint, to share the complex evolutionary cycle of the automobile industry.

Six special zones are being introduced at the show. These are Automotive Innovation covering start-ups and electric vehicles technology solutions, Exotica for display of heritage cars and super cars, Motorsports for display of rally vehicles, Auto Gaming Arena, Future Mobility Experience and Application Vehicles.

Future Mobility Experience zone will provide virtual reality experience of driving connected and autonomous electric vehicles on various roads to introduce the concept of future mobility. In addition, it will have zones on 70 Years of Indian Automobility and one on Anti-counterfeiting and another on Application Vehicles.

Sugato Sen, Deputy Director General, SIAM, said “The auto expo has conventionally been one of the most pursued platforms for the automobile industry in India and with the continued success of the show; it has gained a global thrust giving the participating brands a worldwide exposure.”

The show held in 2014 saw over 5.6 lakh visitors and 6.01 lakh visitors in 2016, the latter witnessing the launch of about 25 vehicles.
