Four years into India with its television sets, the Hong Kong–based Skyworth conglomerate is scripting its next phase. This would see the diversified electronics major expanding its product range to other white goods and possibly establishing manufacturing units.
Jackson Zhang, Managing Director of Skyworth India Electronics, part of the $9-billion global brand Skyworth, said the company has managed to gradually set up a pan-South presence and now has gone pan-India. “While on a phase of consolidation, we are exploring new business prospects,” he said.
The company, which primarily retails television sets and set-top boxes in India, is considering introduction of other products such as refrigerators, washing machines, air-conditioners among others, Zhang told BusinessLine .
Founded in 1988, the company with its manufacturing facility at Shenzhen in China, and rated among top 10 global brands, not only supplies panels and other inputs for some of the global top brands, also retails its TVs and white goods across the world.
“From initial South focus, we now have a pan-India presence by setting up distribution network and also presence in retail chain and outlets. This provides us good foothold in the country to come out with other products into India,” he explained.
