Pinning hopes on monsoon, Sony India is looking at a 20 per cent growth in its overall sales across all its product categories this year.
According to Satish Padmanabhan, Sales Head, the company's product strength coupled with the timely onset of monsoon may trigger the growth this year vis a vis 11 per cent achieved last year. Rainy season always creates better mood among people and this would reflect in higher product sales in the country.
He pointed out that Kerala has emerged as a good market for full frame cameras in the price range of Rs 1 lakh to 3 lakh and is widely used for wedding, fashion and wildlife photography. “We are quite strong in this market with a share of close to 30 per cent and very soon become absolute No 1 in the State”, he said adding that the strength of this particular product lies in its well accepted technology especially in terms of shutter speed without creating any noise.
Padmanabhan, who was in Kochi for the launch of the consumer offer for the ensuing football season, told Business Line the company is aiming to achieve a 50 per cent sales growth in television category in this season by selling 22,000 Bravia television units in Kerala region alone. He said the big screen business is growing at a phenomenal phase which would be a value driver for the growth. Close to 55 per cent is the TV business contribution as a single product category in the company's revenues, he added.
