Sony Corporation on Tuesday announced the establishment of its research company, Sony Research India Pvt Ltd, effective July 1. The Japanese consumer electronics major said the research company will comprise its R&D Center India Bengaluru Laboratory and Mumbai Laboratory, as part of Sony’s Global R&D centres.

“Through the establishment of Sony Research India, Sony will seek to leverage its multi-sites structure and talent for the excellence of its research. Sony Research India also aims to accelerate the collaboration with its entertainment and electronics business groups, while further enhancing competitiveness and capability of research and development in India,” the company said in a statement.

The company will be hiring new talent and stated that its research arm will be offering career opportunities in the area of applied AI and data analytics.

“Our research is to explore and contribute to the well-being of the society and the Sustainable Development Goals by implementing them in the creative entertainment community and medical/life science industry,” it added.
