Media firm Sun TV Network today said its net profit has increased 48.4 per cent to Rs 225.49 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2010, against Rs 151.94 registered during the same quarter last fiscal.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said that its total income increased 50.47 per cent to Rs 607.06 crore from Rs 403.43 crore.
The board of directors of the company has recommended an interim dividend of Rs 5 per share at par.
During this quarter, the company released a blockbuster movie simultaneously in three languages titled Enthiran in Tamil and Robot in Telugu and Hindi.
“The company earned revenues of Rs 179 crore, including Rs 15 crore expected towards satellite rights which has not been included in the revenues in this quarter. The company has spent Rs 132 crore on the production of this blockbuster,” it said.
