Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt Ltd (SMG) has said it would re-start production of vehicles from Monday. The company informed Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) that production would be strictly in accordance with government regulations and guidelines and in keeping with the company's concern for safety standards.
SMG manufactures cars on contract for MSIL. The Gujarat facility manufacturers the Baleno and Swift models. Balenos made at the facility are sold to Toyota Kirloskar Motor as part of the deal between Suzuki and Toyota.
MSIL started production at its Manesar plant on May 6 and at Gurgaon, both in Haryana, on May 17 post-lockdown.
Meanwhile, the company said a worker had tested positive for coronavirus on May 22. In a statement, MSIL said the worker's last attendance in the plant was on May 15, with normal health, after which his residence area came into a containment zone and he did not join work thereafter.
"The company has informed the district administration. The employee has been admitted to a hospital and is stable. The company is providing all medical help and assistance to him in line with Government guidelines," a company spokesperson said.
The company said there was no impact on the operations of the company.
"There may be a possibility of a second case of infection that has just been reported. More information is being sought," the spokesperson added.
