With the rising demand in global markets, air cooler manufacturer Symphony Ltd, on Wednesday, said it plans to nearly double its exports to two lakh units in the next two years.

Currently, it exports around 1.25 lakh units annually through dealers in 60 countries as well as with global retailers such as Wal-Mart, Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, Famsa and Costco, Mr Achal Bakeri, Chairman and Managing Director, said.

Symphony’s ‘DiET’ range of air coolers has emerged as the largest selling brand outside India. Wal-Mart stores in Mexico alone are expected to sell 30,000 units in calendar year 2012, while another 60,000 units are targeted to be sold in other countries, he said.

In western countries, houses are not designed for summer. Also, people in the West have lower tolerance for hot temperatures compared to Indians, thus increasing demand for air coolers.

In Eastern Europe, new demand has arisen, especially from relatively colder countries including Russia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, besides West Asia, Nigeria, Egypt and South Africa, he added.
