Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd (TAFE) has introduced two new set of tractors with better efficiency and revenue earning prospects throughout the year.

The two products – Smart series and premium compact utility tractor - have been launched under its Massey Ferguson brand.

The Smart series, which will come in the 40HP-60HP range, has been designed to meet the customer requirements in the individual applications in both two-wheel and four-wheel versions. With international styling, the Smart series will appeal to young farmers who are conscious of ease of use and better returns. For this series, the price will be between ₹5 lakh and ₹7 lakh.

The second one what the company describes as India’s first premium compact utility tractor, which comes in 28HP category, is a product targeted at orchards and vineyards among other applications. The four-wheel drive tractor will also be suitable for multiple applications ranging from Terrace, haulage and to infrastructure. This tractor can be used with a variety of attachments. It is also well-suited for urban development application and priced at about ₹4.8 lakh without any attachment.

Mechanisation needs “Going by the benchmarks of productivity of major crops in the country, there is significant headroom for increased earnings in the farm sector. While labour shortages during peak agriculture season will remain a problem, aspirations of next generation in farming families are also changing. Thus, mechanisation needs will continue to raise,” Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman & CEO, TAFE, said after launching the new tractors. The company is expecting an incremental sale of about 10,000 units during the first full year of running as a result of the new launches.

TAFE is also planning to launch two new platforms under Eicher brand this year and that will complete the entire range for the value-form-money brand.
