Total sales of Tata Motors passenger and commercial vehicles (including exports) during October 2015 stood at 43,486 vehicles over 42,862 vehicles sold in October 2014, representing a rise of 1 per cent year-on-year.

Some key segments, however, posted better growth during the month with passenger cars (excluding UVs), M&HCV and exports, growing by 15 per cent, 20 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively, the automaker said in a press release.

Domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in the month under review remained flat at 38,917 units. Passenger vehicles recorded a year-on-year growth of 11 per cent with sales of 12,798 units compared with 11,511 units in October 14.

The growth was driven by the car segment, specifically the new launches as passenger cars sales were higher by 15 per cent at 11,049 units versus 9,594 units in the same month of last year. UV sales at 1,749 units indicated a decline of 9 per cent.

In commercial vehicles, M&HCV sales continued to grow and stood at 12,504 units, a growth of 20 per cent year-on-year.

Light and small commercial vehicles, however, continued to reflect industry decline and declined by 19 per cent to 13,615 units. This impacted the overall commercial vehicles sales in the domestic market that were at 26,119 units, a decline of 4 per cent over those in October 2014.

The company's export numbers stood at 4,569 units versus 4,059 units, a rise of 13 per cent.

In early morning trade on the BSE, the Tata Motors scrip (FV Rs 2) gained over Rs 5 and was trading at a price of 389.70 per share.
