Tata Motors is to organise the western zone suppliers meet in Dharwad in April.

Mr U.K. Mishra, Vice-President (ancillary development and materials) Tata Motors Ltd, assured that the company will help local industries to become vendor for the proposed Dharwad project to manufacture LCV vehicles.

He was speaking at the vendor development meet held by North Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (NKSSIA) with District Industries Centre for Tata group of companies.

Stressing on the quality work, he told vendors that now they are producing 60 buses a day and by the end of this year it will be increased to 100.

Mr Vinay K. Pathak, Chief executive Officer, Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd, in his welcome address thanked NKSSIA for initiating such a programme, which will become the platform for many small and medium enterprises (SME) in the north Karnataka region.

Inaugurating the meeting, Mr V. Ramnath, Additional Director, Industries and Commerce Department, said SMEs should work to the expectations of Tata companies and assured to give all support and help from the department. He also explained incentives offered by the State Government to industries.

At the vendor meet, 250 participants from Dharwad, Hubli, Haveri, Gadag, Ranebennur , Belgaum districts representing Greater Hubli Dharwad Industries Association, Tarihal, Dharwad Growth Centre Industries Association, Belur, Dharwad, Lakamanhalli Industrial Association, Dharwad, Sattur Industrial Entrepreneurs Association, Dharwad, North SC/ST SSI Association, Hubli, Belagum Small Scale Industries Association, Belgaum and Haveri Industrial Area Association, Haveri took part.

Mr Maltesh Jeevannavar, Joint Director, DIC Dharwad, told SMEs to concentrate on quality and supply in time. Mr L.A. Patil stressed on the local entrepreneurs to take benefit of this opportunity and develop themselves to the standards required by Tata group of companies. Mr Prashant Achalkar ,Secretary NKSSIA, proposed the vote of thanks.
