To improve the quality life of the communities living near its area of operations, Tata Power launched a ‘Village Education Excellence Program’ recently to cover villages surrounding the company’s proposed project site at Tiruldih in Jharkhand.

Tata Power observed that the villages surrounding Tiruldih get bare minimal educational attention and hence the students studying in the schools do not receive adequate opportunity to learn and grow.

The programme focussed on improving the education standard of primary and mid-level schools and aimed at providing adequate resources and knowledge to the students of IX and X standard students to equip them to enhance the career growth, a press release issued by the company here said.

Keeping in view the shortcoming, a survey among teachers, villagers and students was undertaken to understand their needs and compared the same existing level of education imparted at the school.

The survey revealed that the acute shortage of teaching staff was the primary reason for inadequacy within the education system in the region, the release said.

The education program designed by Tata Power, therefore, focused on conducting Maths, Science and English classes twice a week for the 450 students of IX and X Standard Students of Tiruldih High School.
