Direct-to-Home player Tata Sky has slashed the price of its HD set-top box to Rs 2,000 from Rs 3,100, with the strategy of offering HD at the price of its standard definition set top box.
The company said with more and more people buying HD TVs the move of pricing HD boxes at SD prices, will help consumers get more out of their TVs.
In a statement, Vikram Mehra, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Sky, said, “Tata Sky has been a strong believer in the potential of the HD segment in India and has played a pioneering role in growing it. Equating the price of the HD box to an SD box will further accelerate the adoption of HD service. This new HD pricing also reiterates Tata Sky’s philosophy of offering great value for money offerings to its subscribers."
