Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles is targeting the entire span of automotive applications with electric vehicles for personal use, fleet applications and goods movement.
Addressing media persons at the formal launch of e2oPlus, an electric hatchback in the Chennai market, Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Reva, said developing technology has helped electric vehicles’ use across a wide range of applications.
The e2oPlus has a range of about 140 km on a single charge and reach speeds of up to 85 kmph, which makes it a viable city vehicle. The vehicle is priced between ₹7.70 lakh and ₹11.71 lakh depending on the variant, post FAME incentives – the package offered by the Centre.
The modern Li Ion battery that powers the vehicle can last up to five years and the company offers a three-year/60,000 km warranty.
Selling an electric vehicle in the domestic market is more about selling the concept in terms of clean technology, zero emissions and low carbon foot print.
The running costs are as low as ₹0.70 a km compared with ₹4-6 for conventional vehicles.
