Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd (TEIL) has reported a 58.1 per cent year-on-year rise in its profits after tax (PAT) from Rs 14.88 crore to Rs 23.53 crore for the second quarter ended March 31, 2011.
However, net sales dropped to Rs 455.01 crore (Rs 593.85 crore), which, the company has ascribed to the de-merger of its steam turbine business. The steam turbine segment generated revenue of Rs 139.90 crore during January-March 2010, with this rising to Rs 162.98 crore in January-March 2011, though the latter is on the account of the demerged undertaking (Triveni Turbine Ltd).
