Turkish major Fernas Construction Company's Indian subsidiary has bagged EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) projects worth Rs 2,300 crore from ONGC and IOC for their projects at Dahej in Gujarat and Paradip in Orissa, respectively.

Last week, the company bagged a Rs 2,000-crore EPC package for offsite and utility at the $6 billion project of ONGC Petro-additions Ltd (OPaL), under the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) at Dahej in Bharuch district of Gujarat, wherein ONGC is the anchor investor.

In addition, Fernas recently bagged a Rs 300-crore order from its client Engineers India Ltd (EIL) for constructing a pipeline for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) in Paradip, Orissa. This project involves laying of a pipeline and composite works from the refinery to the south jetty for exports, Mr Rohit Singhal, CEO, told Business Line .

Fernas Construction India Pvt Ltd had bagged its first project in India in 2009, a Rs 450-crore pipeline for transporting natural gas for GAIL, which is expected to be commissioned next month. The 48-inch, 365-km pipeline will transport natural gas to central India, from Dahej to Vijaypur in Madhya Pradesh.

The scope of works for the Paradip project typically includes project management, detailed design and engineering, procurement including supply, construction, commissioning, performance testing, handing over and post-commissioning services.

It is currently working in more than 16 countries.

The Group, owned by the Nasiroglu family of Turkey, has so far laid more than 2,500 km of oil and gas pipelines in the most difficult terrains and inhospitable weather conditions, he added.
