American renewable energy major SunEdison today announced that it is in talks with Continnum Wind Energy to acquire the company.

The Singapore-headquartered Continnum has wind power assets in India.

It has 242 MW of operational assets and another 1,000 MW under construction.

The consideration for the deal has not been disclosed.

The acquisition is yet another instance of consolidation that is happening in the Indian wind power industry.

In April, Rajalakshmi Renewables, part of a group predominantly into education, bought 63 MW of wind assets from truck maker Ashok Leyland for ₹174 crore.

Earlier, Singapore-based Sembcorp acquired controlling stake in IDFC-PE-backed Green Infra, which had 700 MW of wind power, operational and under construction, for ₹1,051 crore. Green Infra itself had bought 60 MW of assets from the Chennai-based TVS group in 2013.

Real estate major DLF sold its wind assets to Leap Green and Bharat Light and Power, in 2013.
