Our Bureau French carmaker Renault on Tuesday said Venkatram Mamillapalle will take over as MD of Renault India from Sumit Sawhney, who will be moving to a new position within the group.
The change in the leadership will be effective next month, the company said. Sawhney, who has worked with companies including Tata Motors, Delphi Automotive and Eicher Tractors, will be moving to a global role.
Mamillapalle till recently was the Head of Renault-Nissan-Avtovaz Purchasing Organisation in Russia. He will report to Fabrice Cambolive, Chairman, Africa-Middle-East-India (AMI) Region for Groupe Renault.
Sawhney will continue to be the member of AMI Region executive committee and his new position will be announced soon, said Cambolive. Sawhney had joined Renault India in 2012 from General Motors.
The announcement comes within four months after the arrest of Carlos Ghosn, former Chairman and CEO of Renault in Japan, following a financial scandal that rocked the French carmaker and its partner Nissan.
