Welspun India Ltd, a leading home textiles maker, on Wednesday, announced its entry into flooring solutions with an investment of ₹600 crore to set up a facility for manufacturing carpets, area rugs and carpet tiles at Anjar in Kutch district of Gujarat.

The carpet-making facility ushers in a new chapter in Welspun’s growth story by adding flooring solutions to its portfolio of home textile products. The facility will have an annual capacity of approximately 7 million square meters.

Job opportunities

Most of this capex will be done over the next 18 months and the upcoming facility will house a modern plant.

The new project will also strengthen Welspun’s commitment in enhancing employment opportunities in the Kutch region by creating more than 7,000 direct and indirect jobs, said BK Goenka, Chairman, Welspun Group, here.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani laid the foundation stone for the new plant.

Welspun has also set up a 30 million litres per day (MLD) waste water treatment facility at Welspun City, Anjar, to recycle and treat the waste water generated in Anjar and Gandhidham-Adipur.

The company will reuse water obtained after biological treatment, ultra filtration and RO processes for its production activities. This will reduce the company’s dependence on the Narmada waters, resulting in increase of fresh water availability for domestic use.
